Pettersson eyes Heritage win

Bet on golfSwede Carl Pettersson (4/5 – RBC Heritage outright) leads the RBC Heritage by a single stroke going into the final round, after a superb 66 at Harbour Town.

The four-time PGA Tour winner went into the third round trailing Colt Knost by two strokes, but had a run of five straight birdies on the front nine before birdieing the last to establish a narrow advantage over the overnight leader.

At one point, Pettersson did open up a three-shot lead, but was pegged back by Knost (4/1 – RBC Heritage outright), who had an up and down start to the round, carding a run of bogey-eagle-bogey for his first three holes, before bouncing back to draw level with his playing partner by the 15th.

However, 34-year-old Pettersson birdied the course’s signature 18th to give him a narrow lead going into the final day.

Pettersson, whose last victory came at the 2010 Canadian Open, says he was pleased with his performance on Saturday and that he was happy to be playing with Knost again on Sunday, as he’d had a great time playing with him in the third round.

“Two fat guys played in three hours, 48 minutes,” Pettersson said with a smile. “That was pretty good, but we had a good time.”
