Furyk keen to battle on

Jim FurykJim Furyk believes he is still playing good golf despite feeling fatigued as he goes in search of the riches on offer at this week’s Tour Championship (Furyk 11/1 – Tournament Outright).

The 44-year-old heads into the PGA Tour finale in seventh place in the FedEx Cup standings but still has a chance of scooping the $10m bonus for the overall winner of the season-long competition.

He will probably need to win this week’s tournament at East Lake Golf Club and then hope that the current top five finish down the field to land the spoils, but he has claimed golf’s richest prize before following glory back in 2010.

It has been a hectic few weeks for the top stars, with majors, a WGC event and now the four-week FedEx Cup play-offs before 12 of the American stars head off to Gleneagles for the Ryder Cup.

Furyk will be on that plane to Scotland and he admits the packed schedule has certainly taken its toll despite his recent results (Furyk 8/1 – Top USA Points – Ryder Cup).

“I’m definitely a little tired. I’m a little worn down,” he said. “I have been playing well, and because of that I’ve limited the amount of practice.”

The Florida resident has enjoyed a superb year and has secured five top-10 finishes from his last seven events, and despite his tiredness Furyk is keen to stay in the zone at a venue he enjoys playing.

“I would like to continue to kind of stay on the roll that I’ve been on, continue trying to do the same things,” he added. “I love the golf course. I always have.”
