Dyson eyes KLM number four

Simon DysonSimon Dyson admits he cannot wait to begin his quest to win a fourth KLM Open title in what is his favourite event of the year (Dyson 28/1 – Tournament Outright).

The 36-year-old is aiming to become the first player to win the tournament on four occasions after victories in 2006, 2009 and 2011.

The Englishman has won six European Tour events in his career to date and, with half of those triumphs coming in the Netherlands, it is clear he is comfortable at the event.

Two of his wins have come at the current host venue, Kennemer Golf and Country Club, while he secured the title at Hilversumsche Golf Club in 2011.

And the York-born ace made it clear that the tournament will always be on his schedule.

“It’s one of the first flights I book for the year,” he said. “I absolutely love it here.”

It has been an up-and-down year for Dyson as he has mixed five top-10 finishes with seven missed cuts and he currently sits 131st in the world rankings.

But, after taking a share of seventh at last week’s Italian Open, the Manchester resident is now looking for more of the same at a venue he loves.

“This place and this tournament definitely inspires me,” he added. “There isn’t a hole that I don’t enjoy. I always fancy standing on that first tee and shooting a decent score.”

Dutch star Joost Luiten is the 9/1 favourite to win the event and defend his title, while Ryder Cup star Thomas Bjorn (25/1) is also in the field.
