Former Birmingham owners David Sullivan and David Gold have completed their takeover of West Ham and confirmed that current boss Gianfranco Zola will be given the chance to guide the club out of relegation (the Hammers 7/2 To Be Relegated) trouble.
Sullivan and Gold, who sold Birmingham City to Carson Yeung earlier this season, have installed former Blues managing director Karren Brady as vice-chairman at Upton Park after they took control when rival Tony Fernandes, chief executive of AirAsia and team principal of the new Lotus F1 team, pulled out of the race.
There were claims that Mark Hughes could be drafted in to replace Zola following their takeover, but Sullivan insisted that the Italian will stay on.
He told Sky Sports News: “He is staying, and I will be sitting down with him to work on some transfers as we realise as fans that the team needs a few additions.”
