Wenger keeping the faith

10396671 300x209 Wenger keeping the faithArsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes the Gunners can still finish in the top four this season once their star men return from injury (Arsenal 3/1 – Top-Four Finish).

Arsenal travelled to Bolton on Wednesday night in the hope they could halt a run of three straight defeats and close the gap on fourth-placed Chelsea after their draw at Swansea.

However, it turned out to be a frustrating night for the Gunners’ faithful as a determined Bolton side held them to a goalless draw.

Arsenal are now seventh in the Premier League after Liverpool and Newcastle leapfrogged them following victories over Blackburn and Wolves respectively.

Wenger’s men have picked up just one point this calendar year and their ambitions of finishing in the top four have taken a serious hit, despite the return of Thierry Henry.

Wenger has now backed his players to recapture the good form that had seem them shoot up the table before Christmas, but he admits every game between now and the end of the season is vital.

“There is a long way to go and I am confident we can come back,” said Wenger.

“It is a long way to go. We have gone through a difficult period, we’ve lost three league games (prior to last night’s match) but we could have won the three as well.

“We have confidence but we have to produce it game by game – for us every game in the championship is a cup final for us now.”

The Frenchmen went on to say that he hoped the return of a number of first-team regulars would strengthen their push for the top four after he decided against bringing in any big names during the transfer window.

Arsenal are back in action on Saturday when they play host to Blackburn, a game the Gunners are 1/4 to win, with Rovers 15/2 and the draw 4/1.
