Wenger hit by Gallas blow

8066762 300x206 Wenger hit by Gallas blowArsenal‘s plans for the Champions League last-16 second leg clash with FC Porto on Tuesday (Arsenal 8/13, Porto 5/1, draw 13/5 Match Betting) have been hit by the news defender William Gallas is facing another month on the sidelines with a calf problem.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who is also without Cesc Fabregas due to a recurrence of a hamstring injury as the side look to overturn a 2-1 first leg deficit, has been without Gallas since last month’s 1-0 win against Liverpool.

The Frenchman was close to a comeback but has since broke down in training and Wenger does not know when he will be back to boost Arsenal’s title ambitions (Arsenal 11/4 Premier League Outright).

“Gallas has been out for a month and now he has had a recurrence of his calf injury,” Wenger said.

“He felt very well on Sunday and went out but he has gone backwards again. We are at the starting point with Gallas unfortunately.

“At the beginning, it was a minor injury. We don’t know how long it will be but for Hull, for example, he has no chance. We were impatient with him, we pushed him and he wanted to get on as well; that is why, maybe, it has happened.

“But there is no obvious sign as to why it keeps coming back. He has no pain at all, then he goes for a little jog and it goes again.”
