Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes this could be the season for the club’s youngsters to finally fulfil their potential.
The Gunners (4/1 in the Premier League outright winners market) head to Holland on Tuesday for their third Champions League game of the group stages against AZ Alkmaar, looking to maintain their 100% record.
Arsenal (8/15 to beat AZ Alkmaar in the match betting) sit atop Group H and will be looking for their seventh straight victory in all competitions with a win over the Dutch champions.
Wenger is now backing his youthful side to finally come good, having gone four years without a trophy.
“I believe this team has a big future,” said Wenger.
“We have improved the belief and results. However, we know we have not won anything yet, it is all in front of us and that is what we want to show this season.”
Arsenal (10/1 to win the European Cup outright) will be without seven first team players for Tuesday’s game, with Tomas Rosicky, Theo Walcott, Eduardo, Samir Nasri, Denilson, Nicklas Bendtner, Lukasz Fabianski and Johan Djourou all unavailble.
The only good news on the injury front for Arsenal is the return of Gael Clichy (33/1 to be the first goalscorer) after he missed Saturday’s 3-1 win over Birmingham.
The Gunners have an average record against Dutch opposition and will have to be wary of Ronald Koeman’s side (11/2 to upset the Gunners in the match betting) who have an excellent record at home in European competition, having lost just once in 34 games.
