Walcott admits World Cup fears

Theo Walcott is still worried he won’t make the final 23-man World Cup squad when England boss Fabio Caplleo announces his final selection (England 6/1 to win the World Cup 2010 outright).

The Arsenal forward played the majority of Monday night’s warm-up fixture with Mexico until being replaced late on by Spurs flyer Aaron Lennon, but Walcott remains unsure if he will be heading to South Africa.

“For me I just want to train well and if you train well then you hopefully get a chance to play,” Walcott told Sky Sports News.

“I don’t think anyone’s place is guaranteed yet so we’ll be working hard like we did last week while training in Austria.

“Fingers crossed I’ll play again on Sunday and have another good game hopefully.”

The 21-year-old winger showed good movement against Mexico but failed to deliver with his final product (66/1 Walcott – Golden Boot World Cup 2010).

England face Japan on Sunday and the Arsenal star will be hopeful he can prove himself to Capello and make the final cut.
