Aston Villa are hopeful they can complete the transfer of USA midfielder Michael Bradley before the transfer window slams shut (Villa 6/1 to be relegated).

The Borussia Monchengladbach star is set to join Villa Park on loan until the end of the season. He is expected to complete a medical and discuss personal terms today.

If he does sign, it will be Villa’s fourth in the January transfer window.

Bradley, who has won 50 caps, has 18 months left on his deal with the German outfit but Villa could make the deal permanent in the summer.

Villa boss Gerard Houllier is keen to boost his options in midfield but Stephen Ireland is expected to join Newcastle on loan later.

Meanwhile, left-back Stephen Warnock could also be set for a move away from Villa Park as he has been linked with loan moves to Liverpool and Wigan.

Aston Villa are currently in good form, having won their last three Premier League games which has propelled them out of the relegation zone and up to thirteenth in the table.
