Out-of-favour France star Patrick Vieira has backed Thierry Henry to underline his international credentials at this summer’s World Cup (Henry 50/1 to be Top Goalscorer).
Henry fell out of favour at Barcelona last season and is widely expected to move on this summer, but for now he is concentrating on Les Bleus’ Group A campaign against South Africa, Mexico and Uruguay (France 11/10 - Group A Winners).
The 32-year-old Arsenal legend’s best days are arguably behind him but his former Gunners team-mate is still backing him - along with Franck Ribery – to make an impact.
The Manchester City midfielder told FIFA.com: “It’s hard to pick out one player who’ll be really important for the team. I would say Franck Ribery because in 2006 he was fantastic and I think he will be important for the French team.
“Henry is still Henry. He’s got the talent, he’s got the experience and Thierry is one of the players who can win games by himself.”
France kick off their World Cup with a clash against Uruguay on Friday.
