Holland ace Rafael van der Vaart does not anticipate any problems adapting to life in the Premier League after his shock move to Tottenham (Spurs 3/1 – Top Four Finish).
The Dutch schemer left Real Madrid this week after failing to force his way into new coach Jose Mourinho’s long-term plans at the Bernabeu to end a brief two-year stay in Spain.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp only heard about the 27-year-old’s availability late on and the north Londoners had to move quickly to land their man with the deal ratified on Wednesday by Premier League officials.
Van der Vaart will add some Champions League know-how to Spurs’ squad but he is also up for the challenge of the English top flight.
The World Cup finalist told De Telegraaf: “Four years at Spurs, for 11million euros, I can hardly believe it myself.
“The interest from Tottenham came very quick and I did not have much time to think.
“But I want to play football again and if possible every week, with a beautiful club. I’m totally happy.
“I am excited about playing in England. Whether it suits my style remains to be seen, but I think a good footballer can adapt and I am very proud of this transfer.”
Spurs can be backed at 33/1 to win this season’s Champions League – at the first time of asking – while they are 16/1 to do the best out of all the English sides in the competition.
