Takeover ‘good thing’ for Reds – Carragher

Jamie Carragher has spoken out about New England Sports Ventures’ proposed takeover of Liverpool claiming it will ‘be a good thing for the club’ (Liverpool 8/1 Top 4 Premier League Finish).

The Reds stopper is waiting to see if the Premier League will approve the agreed sale of the Anfield outfit, which is also set to be held up by a legal dispute between the two owners, George Gillett and Tom Hicks, who did their best on Tuesday night to avert the sale and regain control.

However, Carragher feels it will be the best outcome if the current US owners departed and New England Sports Ventures got an opportunity to turn things around.

He told Liverpoolfc.tv: “Everyone knows it’ll be a good thing for the club.

“Hopefully it will be sorted sooner rather than later and we can start looking forward on the pitch and start improving results, which is what we need to do.”

Carragher, his team-mates, manager Roy Hodgson and long-suffering fans will hope that the sale is rubber-stamped ahead of their return to Premier League action at Merseyside rivals Everton on Sunday October 17 (Everton 5/4, Liverpool 7/4, Draw 9/4 – Match Betting).
