Scholes keen to carry on

Manchester United veteran Paul Scholes has revealed his determination to carry on playing for the Premier League title-chasers (United 2/1 Premier League – outright).

The former England international will soon be celebrating his 36th birthday but has featured in United’s first two games of the season.

The midfielder helped his side win the FA Community Shield as they beat rivals Chelsea 3-1 at Wembley and continued to be an influential figure in United’s opening Premier League win against Newcastle United.

Scholes dictated play in the middle of the park setting up goals for Ryan Giggs and Dimitar Berbatov.

The 35-year-old has stated that he will carry on at Old Trafford for as long as possible.

He said: “I’ll just keep going, hopefully keep playing well and getting in the team and just see where it goes from there.”

“It depends on performances and how you play. I did go through last season thinking this might be the last time I played against this team or stuff like that. But I just don’t know. My performances will decide when I finish,” he added.
