Sagna senses title statement

bacary sagnaBacary Sagna believes Arsenal (15/2 in the Premier League outright betting) showed their mettle in Serbia to bounce back from the West Brom embarrassment with the 3-1 over Partizan Belgrade and now says that the players are ready to perform in the top-of-the-table clash at Chelsea (5/6 favourites) on Sunday.

The Gunners fell 3-0 down against the Baggies last Saturday at the Emirates, with the visitors also missing a penalty, before a Samir Nasri brace proved in vain and Arsene Wenger decided to make six changes for the Partizan clash.

The north London outfit responded by maintaining their 100 per cent start to their Euro campaign and now the players are fully focused as they put their title credentials on the line against the champions at Stamford Bridge (Chelsea 8/11, Draw 9/4, Arsenal 10/3 Match Betting).

“We had to win against Partizan because we did not play well at the weekend, conceding three goals,” Sagna said.

“Every game is a test because the season is long, where you have to play match after match.

“Now we need to stay focused and look forward to the next game, and we have to make something at Chelsea. We have to play our football.

“We know we have the quality to beat them.

“It will be an open game, but it will be about us, not them.”

Wenger has refused to confirm that Lukasz Fabianski, who saved a penalty on Wednesday night, will start against the Blues, but did intimate that captain Cesc Fabregas and Thomas Vermaelen may return to the line-up.
