RVP issues Gunners rallying cry

3669523 Van Persie 300x199 RVP issues Gunners rallying cryArsenal (7/1 FA Cup outright) captain Robin Van Persie believes his side should not be written off this season and is adamant they can still mount a serious challenge for both the FA Cup and Champions League this term.

The Gunners made a slow start to their Premier League campaign and have long been out of the running for the title with Manchester giants United and City leading the way.

Arsenal will be desperate to finish in the top four places to secure Champions League football for next season but the north London outfit are capable of bringing back silverware to the Emirates in the current campaign.

Van Persie and his men take on Aston Villa in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday and the Dutch international has urged the side to push on now for the rest of the season (Arsenal 4/7, draw 11/4, Villa 5/1).

The 28-year-old wrote on his Facebook account: “There are plenty of games still left, we have recovered from reverses like this before and we will win again, so anybody writing us off is making a mistake.

“This could still be a good season for us. We have the FA Cup to look forward to and the Champions League.

“We will all be giving 100 per cent to make sure we bring one of those trophies home, hopefully both of them.”
