Rooney ready for title push

Rooney82932411 300x184 Rooney ready for title pushWayne Rooney is confident Manchester United can push on from the victory at Arsenal and into the record books by reeling in Chelsea and winning a fourth league title on the bounce.

The Red Devils are 2/1 in the outright betting for Premier League glory having cut the gap to the leaders down to a point, although Chelsea, 4/7 favourites to regain the title, play their game in hand against Hull on Tuesday night.

Rooney believes United, the only club to win three  successive titles twice, can now put together a trademark strong finish to the season to take the spoils, although he is refusing to see the challenge as a two-horse race.

“I hope we can kick on and win the title,” said Rooney. “We’ve won the last three and nobody’s won four in a row, so hopefully we can break the record.

“It’s closer this year and more exciting. Chelsea and Arsenal are there. Liverpool have struggled but are a quality team and will be competing at the end of the season.”

Rooney has been in sensational form for Sir Alex Ferguson so far and is a strong 4/11 favourite to finish as the league’s top goalscorer.

The England ace has already set a personal best after notching his 100th league goal with the third against Arsenal to take his tally to 20 for the season, with Jermain Defoe (6/1) next best with 15, one ahead of Darren Bent (12/1) and Didier Drogba (15/2).
