Dimitar Berbatov (Evens - Premier League Top Goalscorer) may be enjoying his most productive season, leading the Premier League scoring charts with 19, but the Bulgarian is in no doubt as to who the best striker in the division is – Wayne Rooney.
The England international is still struggling to find his best form for Manchester United following a dismal World Cup but scored a sensational winner in the derby on Saturday to remind everyone of what he is capable of.
Despite the huge difference in goals between the two, Rooney has scored five goals in the Premier League, Berbatov has no problem with the fact that he is sometimes left on the bench.
“When you consider all the attributes forwards need, Wayne is number one in my opinion,” said Berbatov. “He’s the best forward I’ve ever played with.”
The 2-1 win over City also helped United (8/15 to regain the title) maintain the four-point cushion over second-placed Arsenal and Berbatov insists the priority is to win the Premier League, rather than personal glory.
“Everything’s going well for me this season and if we can win the title it will be even better,” Berbatov added.
“That’s my main wish. If, in May, we’ve won the title and I’m there to lift it, then it would be a personal best for me.”
The FA Cup is the focus of attention this weekend but whether Rooney or Berbatov play remains to be seen as United (9/4 outright favourites) face Crawley Town at Old Trafford.
