Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed key striker Wayne Rooney is fit to play against AC Milan in Wednesday night’s Champions League second-leg clash (United 5/1 to win 1-0 on the night).
United were sweating on the fitness of the England ace, who has been carrying a knee injury over the past week, and he missed the weekend 1-0 win at Wolves.
But the 28-goal forward, who was instrumental in the 3-2 first-leg win over Milan when scoring twice, trained as normal on Tuesday and Fergie has confirmed his talisman is fine (Rooney 7/2 to score first or last in the game).
Ferguson told his pre-match press conference: “He is fit, I am glad to say that he is fit.
“He has showed a rapid improvement since Saturday morning. He was extremely doubtful, but he is OK.”
Meanwhile, United defender Wes Brown faces a lay-off of four to six weeks, although the club are hoping he will be back in action sooner rather than later.
