Wayne Rooney will become a legend of the game if he can inspire England to glory at the World Cup finals (11/2 Outright) this summer, according to the Manchester United star’s club captain Gary Neville.
Neville has seen the 24-year-old’s development at close quarters since his arrival from Everton and has no doubt that Rooney is now the main man for both club and country.
After seeing the forward come off the bench to seal the Carling Cup final win over Aston Villa on Sunday, right-back Neville said: “Wayne is a great player to play with and is one of the brilliant Manchester United players have had.
“He has been brilliant for England too. The only thing he has to do for England now is go and win something. That is what England players have been striving to do for the past 40 years.
“That would really crown it off for him.”
