Ronaldo ready for the fight

Portugal have been cut to 5/1 by Betfred to win Euro 2012 after captain and talisman Cristiano Ronaldo inspired them to a 1-0 win over Czech Republic in the quarter-finals on Thursday night.

The Real Madrid superstar scored with a powerful diving header just 11 minutes from time to steer his side through to the semi-finals, where they will meet either Spain or France.

It was Ronaldo’s third goal of the tournament and he has been cut into 2/1 second favouritism to finish as the Euro 2012 Top Scorer, although he was unlucky to see two efforts come back off the woodwork against the Czechs.

Regardless of who the side will take on, the Portugal captain insists his players are all up for the challenge and have a great chance to at least make the final.

“Our great aim is to get to the final. We have a great squad and now I’d say the chances are 50-50 and we just have to believe,” Ronaldo said.

“We are very mature, so we are ready for the fight.”
