Manchester City defender Micah Richards feels Vincent Kompany’s return to the ranks against Everton will give the squad a real boost as they look for another three points (Everton 7/2, City 5/6, draw 5/2 Match Prices).
Kompany has missed City’s last four matches after serving a suspension for his controversial sending off in the FA Cup defeat to Manchester United.
In his absence, the Eastlands outfit have crashed out of the Carling Cup to Liverpool but have beaten both Wigan and Spurs in the Premier League and they sit three points clear of the Red Devils at the top of the standings (City 2/5 Premier League Outright).
The Belgian ace is regraded as one of the best central defenders in the English top-flight and his partnership with Jolean Lecott is seen as one of the main reasons for City’s success this term.
League results have still been good while Kompany has been on the sidelines, but Richards feels his return will ensure that they have the best chance of getting the right result on Tuesday evening.
“He has been an unbelievable miss. He is our captain and he and Joleon have been our best central defensive partnership this season,” he said.
“He has played well in the big games and is a leader so it will be amazing to have him back and we can’t wait to play with him again.”
Kompany will face an Everton side decimated by injury as Phil Jagielka, Sylvain Distin, Seamus Coleman, Jack Rodwell and Leon Osman are all still sidelined, while City will not be able to call on the services of striker Mario Balotelli, who will serve the second of his four-match ban.
