Boss Harry Redknapp has urged Spurs to keep “backing his judgement” as he feels the north Londoners are just two “top, top players” away from a Premier League title challenge (Spurs 66/1 to win the league this season).
The former Portsmouth and West Ham chief has impressively turned under-achieving Tottenham into a top four club and is now looking to take the next step and mounting a challenge to the dominancy of Chelsea (8/15f) and Manchester United (6/1).
Not since Arsenal in 2003/04 have either United or the Blues failed to land the title, but Redknapp wants that to change over the next couple of seasons.
He told reporters: “I think Tottenham may be one or two big signings away from being a team that could win the championship. One or two players in the right positions – and I’m talking about two top, top players in the right positions.
“If we could go and do that I think Tottenham are a team that could win the championship in a couple of years.
“This squad is just so full of talent anyway, players who have made their mark and (chairman) Daniel Levy has done a great job backing my judgment and improving the squad and the club, that I really believe we’re not far away from that level.”
Spurs (9/2) are in Champions League action at Inter Milan (4/6) tonight.
