Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is set for more talks with new chairman Martin Broughton and managing director Christian Purslow, with their first meeting described as “constructive” (Reds 11/1 Premier League 2010/11 Outright).
The Spaniard finally got together with Broughton and Purslow with a Reds spokesman confirming “there was an exchange of views on issues of concern to both the board and the manager”.
Benitez has been under fire for failing to deliver a strong Premier League title challenge this season after last year’s near miss.
And he has also been strongly linked with a switch to Serie A giants Juventus after coming up short in the fight for a top-four finish.
But, for now, Benitez remains in charge for the final game of the season at relegated Hull on Sunday (Tigers 5/1, draw 11/4, Reds 4/7).
Liverpool’s spokesman also confirmed: “We are pleased that the first of what is intended to be a series of meetings took place today [Thursday] between the chairman, managing director and the manager. The meeting was constructive.”
