Hart has lasted just five games after being drafted in to replace Jim Magilton just before Christmas – a run which yielded one win, two draws and two defeats.

Harford will be at the helm at Bloomfield Road when Rangers travel north for a reunion with former boss Ian Holloway whose exit in 2006 after five years signalled the start of the great Loftus Road managerial merry-go-round.

A QPR statement read: “The Club can confirm that Manager Paul Hart has decided to leave Queens Park Rangers Football Club with immediate effect.

“Assistant Manager Mick Harford will be taking charge of First Team affairs, starting with this weekend’s Championship fixture at Blackpool.”
