Redknapp will not leave Spurs ‘in the lurch’

Harry Redknapp remains a strong favourite at 1/3 in the outright betting after admitting he would consider the England job if an offer was to be made but also revealed he would not leave Spurs ‘in the lurch’ after watching his side destroy Newcastle United 5-0 on Saturday night.

Every man and his dog is seemingly expecting the former West Ham and Portsmouth boss to replace Fabio Capello, who resigned earlier this week, with some suggestions that it could be on a part-time basis initially.

Redknapp has made no secret of his attraction to the England job but has insisted that his focus is purely on Spurs at the moment as they kept their Premier League title challenge very much alive with the emphatic destruction of Newcastle (Spurs 14/1 Tournament Outright).

Redknapp told ESPN: “They’ve been great to me since I’ve been here, the fans, I’ve enjoyed every minute at Tottenham. It’s gone well for me here and I think we all appreciate each other.

“If it ever happened and I got the offer you’d have to consider that, but at the moment I’m just focusing purely on Tottenham.

“I’m not going to leave them in the lurch. Everyone’s been great to me, it’s going well here and we’ve just got to keep going.”

Spurs’ next focus will be on the FA Cup as they travel to Stevenage on Saturday for their fifth-round clash, before two massive games in the Premier League – at Arsenal before hosting Manchester United.
