Pedro cautiously optimistic

Barcelona winger Pedro is expecting a tough clash with AC Milan on Tuesday night at Camp Nou but is confident of progression to the semi-finals of the Champions League (Barcelona 2/7, Milan 10/1, draw 9/2 Match Prices).

The two sides drew 0-0 in the first leg at the San Siro as the Italians resisted everything that Barca threw at them and managed to shackle Lionel Messi throughout the contest.

But the Catalans are a different kettle of fish at home and, roared on by more than 90,000 vociferous fans, will be a tough nut to crack for the Serie A leaders (Barca 6/5 Champions League Outright).

Pep Guardiola’s men secured a 2-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao at the weekend, and are still six points adrift of league-leading Real Madrid, while Milan are now just two points clear of Juventus at the top of Serie A after being held to a 1-1 draw at Catania.

The Spaniards have all the momentum going into Tuesday’s return leg and Pedro, while wary of the quality in the Milan ranks, has backed his side to make it to the last four of Europe’s elite club competition.

“Milan have some great players and will definitely not make things easy for us,” he said. “However, we are confident that we can put in a good performance with the help of our fans.

“They are a very tough opponent to beat, and they can always score a goal. But we are confident that we can qualify for the next round.”
