City were again held on Saturday, 3-3 at Bolton, and they sit in sixth in the table, 11 points off the top in what has been an inconsistent first half to the season.

The club’s owner, Sheik Mansour, is reportedly ready to spend more money with scouts being sent out across the world charged with unearthing the next top talent and luring them to Eastlands.

A club insider is quoted in the Sunday Mirror as saying: “It is further evidence that the owner is in this for the long term and looking to build a squad of players that are capable of bringing success to City for many years to come.

“Money is no object and the funding put in place will ensure few club’s are able to resist City’s immense spending power in the market.

City face one of their rivals for the top four, Spurs, this week and they will be looking to get back to winning ways while Harry Redknapp’s men, who slipped up at home to Wolves on Saturday, are in equal need of the points as they also chase a top-four finish.
