Wolves boss Mick McCarthy insists his players’ attitude is spot on after they bounced back from the Birmingham defeat to beat Spurs and move up to 15th place in the Premier League (Wolves 11/10 To Be Relegated).
David Jones’ first-half strike was enough to see off Harry Redknapp’s top-four hopefuls (5/1) at Molineux, but McCarthy claimed his side’s commitment was never going to be affected by Sunday’s late 2-1 defeat to Blues at St Andrew’s.
However, McCarthy did admit the manner of last weekend’s loss was still preying on his mind.
He said: “It is a good win over Spurs but that still rankles.
“Today we were terrific. It wasn’t easy, we’ve had to play well and it was damned hard work and we deserved it.
“It was good that we were 1-0 ahead and didn’t allow Sunday to affect that. I have never once doubted the attitude of my players – I never have.
“I keep getting asked about their character, about bouncing back and being able to get off the canvas and all those other cliches and it has never been in doubt about them.”
