Lukaku wants Euro place

3625197 300x229 Lukaku wants Euro placeChelsea (9/1 Champions league outright) striker Romelu Lukaku says he wants to earn a place in his side’s Champions League squad in January after being left out by boss Andre Villas-Boas for the group stages.

The 18-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge from Anderlecht in the summer and, despite making a promising start to his Blues (6/1 Premier League outright) career, the Portuguese boss decided to go with experience over youth for the group stage of Europe’s biggest club competition.

The Belgian now says he is determined to make a sizeable impact to force his way into the squad in the new year and is desperate to take every opportunity granted to him.

“It is my main objective and it is realistic because in these four months I can show what I can do and improve,” he said.

“The manager explained to me why he left me out of the squad. I’m patient but when I have the chance to play, I will do my best to show myself to the boss.

“Every youngster wants to be playing in Europe, but if you see our squad you already understand.”

The talented striker made his first start for the club in Wednesday’s Carling Cup win over Fulham and impressed with a number superb touches.
