Scotland coach Craig Levein has decided to recall Kris Boyd, James McFadden and Lee Wallace to his starting eleven for Tuesday’s Euro 2012 qualifier against Liechtenstein (28/1 to beat Scotland).
The Scots head into their second game on the road to the Ukraine and Poland having drawn the first match 0-0 with Lithuania.
The goalless draw was hardly the result Scotland wanted with current world and European champions Spain having got off to a flying start with a 4-0 win over Liechtenstein.
The Scots (18/1 to win Group I) must now beat the minnows to keep pace with the Spanish and Levein has recalled some of his big guns in order to do the job for him.
Boyd and McFadden sat out the first match but come in to replace Steven Naismith and Barry Robson.
Wallace makes a timely return from injury to come in at left-back for Steven Whittaker, who misses out because of his own injury problems.
Even without the likes of Chris Iwelumo and Steven Fletcher the Scots can still boast plenty of attacking talent in their starting eleven and should have enough to comfortably turn over Liechtenstein.
However, manager Levein has sounded a note of caution about looking at Tuesday’s game as a walkover and believes the tartan army will have to patient.
“I don’t think throwing every creative player that we’ve got onto the pitch automatically means that we are going to score more goals,” he said.
“It’s about balance. It’s about putting the right people in the positions they are comfortable with. We also can’t be disrespectful to Liechtenstein.”
