Osasuna make tricky foes

Osasuna coach Jose Luis Mendilibar says his side are going all out for a win against in-form Real Sociedad at the Anoeta tonight (Real Sociedad 5/6, Draw 12/5, Osasuna 16/5 in Match Betting).

The fluctuating fortunes of the home side make this match tougher to call than it looks on paper with Osasuna second bottom of the Primera Liga table on only nine points.

Sociedad’s French coach Philippe Montanier has seen his side turn a corner and climb to ninth with two victories in a row against Malaga and Rayo Vallecano.

The Basque outfit can go sixth tonight with another win while victory for Mendelibar’s men would see them move out of the relegation zone.

“We’re going out to win,” said the Osasuna boss. “We’re not going to draw, but sometimes a point after the game is good.”

The Pamplona club have grown in confidence since their 3-0 away win at fellow strugglers Espanyol a fortnight ago and appeared to have the better of a 0-0 home draw with Malaga last week.

Midfielder Raoul Loe said: “The team has more confidence than before, now everything seems easier.”

Real Sociedad will hope Mexican hitman Carlos Vela can continue his recent resurgent form against one of his former clubs.
The former Arsenal starlet grabbed two in his side’s 4-0 thumping of Rayo last week and can now boast five league goals for the season.

With youngsters Ruben Pardo and Asier Illaramendi seemingly getting better by the week, Montannier’s side are the favourites to make it three on the bounce and stop Osasuna’s recovery in its tracks.

Goals in the first half could be scarce with seven out of the last eight Real Sociedad home games having been 0-0 at the break (Evs Draw in HT Betting), but the Erreala have gone on to win five of those (7/2 Draw-Real Sociedad in Double Result).
