Under pressure Blackburn (4/5 to be relegated) boss Steve Kean says he will not be forced out by the club’s fans and insists he is the right man to turn his side’s fortunes around.
Kean’s team went down 3-1 at Stoke (100/1 top 4 finish) on Saturday, meaning he now has a record of only six wins in 34 games, leading a number of fans to call for his head over the last few weeks.
It only took 12 seconds of the match at the Britannia Stadium for a small section of the travelling support to start chanting ‘Kean out’ but the Scot refuses to quit and believes it is only a matter of time before his side start winning.
The 44-year-old recently signed a new contract at Ewood Park and says he empathises with the fans, but is not affected by the calls for him to be sacked.
“They can voice their frustrations; we are frustrated we didn’t get anything from this game so I can share their frustrations” he said. “All I want to do is for the fans to go home happy because they have seen us winning and play well.
“We are working for the same thing. Hopefully I can turn them around, hopefully we can turn them around because I don’t just think it is me, it is the players and the rest of the fans – the majority of the fans – who want the same thing.”
