Serie A giants Juvent
us appear ready to try and lure under-pressure Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez to Turin in the summer as speculation mounts the Spaniard will be shown the exit door at Anfield come the end of the season (Liverpool now a huge 100/1 to win the title with Betfred).
Liverpool are still in with a shout of securing a top four finish this season and Champions League football for next term, but if Benitez’s squad fail to make it, the former Valencia chief is expected to be relieved of his duties following a season of disappointing results both at home and in Europe.
Juve have targeted Benitez as a long-term replacement for Ciro Ferrara and are ready to make a lucrative offer for the experienced coach in the summer.
Benitez has remained tight-lipped over the Italian side’s interest, saying after the Reds’ frustrating 0-0 draw at Wolves on Tuesday that he would not be discussing his future.
However, for the time being at least, the Liverpool chief remains focused on achieving that all-important top- four finish and will be determined to secure all three points in the club’s next two games – at home to Bolton on Saturday (Liverpool 4/9, draw 10/3, Bolton 13/2) before another Anfield clash against city rivals Everton on February 6.
