Liverpool are 9/1 to win the Europa League next season but new boss Roy Hodgson wants to get back into the Champions League as soon as possible after taking the helm at Anfield.
Hodgson was finally unveiled as Liverpool’s new manager on Thursday afternoon, following the departure of Rafa Benitez last month and he is keen to bring the good times back to Anfield after a disappointing seventh-placed finish last term.
The Reds missed out on a place in the Champions League and Hodgson, who has enjoyed spells in charge of Inter Milan and the Switzerland national team job, is well aware they need to at least finish in the top four next season.
“This is a very big club, a club with enormous tradition and when the club is sold it will get stronger rather than weaker,” Hodgson revealed.
“My priority is to try to get the team doing better than last season and get them back into the Champions League spots.”
Hodgson worked wonders with Fulham last season and Liverpool fans will be praying he can work his magic once again.
