Roy Hodgson sees his Liverpool (4/6 to win on Sunday) team improving and reckons it is only a matter of time until they turn their season around.
The former Fulham manager has led the team to their worst start to a top-flight campaign for more than half a century, and he will be looking for them to show some form when they entertain Blackburn (9/2 to win, 14/5 draw) at Anfield on Sunday.
Hodgson is expected to bring Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres back into the side after he rested them for the Europa League draw with Napoli on Thursday.
The manager has admitted that Liverpool (6/1 to win 1-0) are still a “work in progress” and there is a “lot of rebuilding” that is needed to be done.
The Blackburn game will be the first at Anfield under the new owners New England Sports Ventures and with all the off-the-field problems resolved, fans will now want to see an improvement on the playing surface.
Hodgson is confident that things are going to improve in the near future and he thought the draw in Italy was a “positive” showing that gives them something to work on (Liverpool 12/1 to win Europa League outright).
“I think we are getting stronger as a team and a squad and we are becoming more organised in the sense of how I would like to see us organised,” said the manager.
“What we need is a bit of luck. When you are down there and you are not getting the victories the pressure builds up and confidence takes a battering and everyone starts to question things.”
Blackburn (11/1 to win 1-0) boss Sam Allardyce will be without Chris Samba through suspension after his sending off against Sunderland, so Ryan Nelsen is in line to replace him in the heart of the Rovers defence.
