Roy Hodgson believes winning the FA Cup this season would prove Fulham are heading in the right direction (Fulham 12/1 FA Cup – Outright).
Simon Davies, Bobby Zamora, Damien Duff and Stefano Okaka were on target in a 4-0 romp over Notts County on Sunday to secure the Cottagers a quarter-final clash against Bolton or Tottenham.
Hodgson feels Fulham could cause an upset with the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool already eliminated from the famous old cup competition.
“For the teams left, they won’t regret three of the traditional top four in the country not being there,” Hodgson said.
“We think we have as good chance as the others. It’s nice to have the lottery ticket because you cannot win the lottery without one.”
Hodgson reiterated his main objective is to keep Fulham in the Premier League (Fulham 66/1 To Be Relegated) again but knows it would mean a lot for the profile of the west London club if they were to win a major trophy.
“It would mean a lot to us,” he added.
“It would be another major step forward with the progression at the club.”
