Harry Redknapp watched his Tottenham team collect a point in a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at White Hart Lane on Sunday – then insisted they are firmly in the race for the Premier League title (33/1 Tottenham – Premier League outright).
A compelling clash could have ended in disaster for the north Londoners when the faltering champions were awarded a late penalty – only for goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes to save a Didier Drogba effort from 12 yards.
A Tottenham victory would have put them within three points of top spot but Redknapp refused to consider the result as a missed opportunity.
Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea all face each other in a series of mouth-watering Christmas fixtures between now and the new year, while big-spenders Manchester City have also moved ominously into contention.
Redknapp feels Tottenham have a stand-out chance to gatecrash the party because of the wide-open nature of this year title race (7/4 Tottenham – Top 4 Finish).
“I think it’s open, I really do,” he said. “I saw Man City. They’re strong, they’re going to be right there.
“Obviously, Man United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham.”
