Fulham midfielder Johnathan Greening says he is looking forward to pitting his wits against Italian giants Roma in the Europa League on Thursday.
The Cottagers (7/4 to beat Roma in the match betting) have picked up four points from their first two group games and would be in a strong position to qualify from Group E if they can pick up a win over Roma (6/4 in the match betting to beat Fulham)
Roy Hodgson has said he may rest some players for the visit of the Serie A side and is already without Danny Murphy after he picked up a knee injury against Hull, while Kagisho Dikgacoi, Simon Davies, Dickson Etuhu and Andrew Johnson all unavailble.
The Cottagers (2/1 to win Group E) squad players have already proven they are capable of coping with European football by earning a 1-1 draw with CSKA Sofia (11/10 to beat Basle on the Europa League coupon).
Greening is likely to be given a start with Murphy and Etuhu both injured and the former West Brom man says games against the likes of Roma are the reason he joined Fulham.
“I’ve only played a couple of games but it is different to the Premier League, maybe not as fast and a bit more tactical. I’m really enjoying it and it’s great for the club. It will be a difficult game so we need to be compact and do what we do well. They have good attacking players and need to wary of that but also assert our style on them,” said Greening.
Roma (12/1 to win the Europa League outright) come into the game off the back of a 2-1 defeat to AC Milan and are without Franceso Totti, Juan and Marco Motta.
