Germans wait on key injury

Germany midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is facing a race to be fit for this weekend’s crucial World Cup showdown against England after picking up a thigh injury (Germany 15/8 to win Match Betting).

The 25-year-old, who is a key performer for the Germans, sustained the knock against Ghana last night and his absence will be a huge blow if he is ruled out on Sunday.

Germany will now be praying the influential midfielder, who is 14/1 to grab the first goal should he play in Bloemfontein, will be passed fit.

Assistant coach Hansi Flick said: “He has sustained a thigh injury. The doctors say time is running out but we hope he can play because he is an important player.”
