Fulham set Schwarzer price

Fulham have reportedly told Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger he will have to fork out £4m if he wants to sign Australia goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer (Arsenal 7/1 to win the Premier League).

Wenger has been linked with a swoop for a keeper for some-time, with reports back in January suggesting Germany stopper Manuel Neuer was in his sights, and it would now seem as if Fulham’s Schwarzer is his top target.

Current Gunners number one Manuel Almunia received heavy criticism for some of his displays last season and the Arsenal boss has admitted he fears the Spaniard can occasionally succumb to the pressure of big games.

Schwarzer is believed to be keen to make the switch to the Emirates in order to compete in the Champions League but Fulham (8/1 to be relegated) are desperate to maintain the 37-year-old’s services, although £4m would represent a great return for a player they signed for nothing in 2008.

Meanwhile, Cesc Fabregas’ father has denied there was any meaning behind his son wearing a Barcelona shirt following Spain’s World Cup success, stating it was part of the “celebration” and should not be over-analysed.

The Catalan giants are keen to sign the Arsenal star and their pursuit of his signature is likely to last all summer if a deal between the two clubs cannot be agreed, with Arsenal desperate to keep hold of the World Cup winning 23-year-old.
