Foster committed to Blues

10267274 birmingham ben foster 300x199 Foster committed to BluesBirmingham City (8/11 to be relegated, Evens to stay up) have been given a boost by the news that goalkeeper Ben Foster wants to remain at the club, regardless of whether they are relegated or not on Sunday.

City go into the final game of the season in 17th place but only out of the relegation zone by virtue of a marginally better goal difference than Blackpool and Wigan, although Wolves and Blackburn are just a point ahead of them in the table.

Foster has enjoyed a fantastic campaign on a personal level and was voted Birmingham’s player of the year by both team-mates and supporters in his first season at the club on Monday night.

The former Manchester United keeper then indicated he would be happy to remain at St Andrew’s, even if the worst happened and they were relegated on Sunday.

“I want to stay at Birmingham City,” Foster said. “I’ve loved this season. It’s been a great season for me personally.

“I know we’re in a bit of a fight at the moment and we’ve got a massive match on Sunday.

“But no-one is thinking of being in the Championship next season and we need to get three points on Sunday (at Tottenham).”

Blues are 9/2 in the match betting to cause an upset, with Spurs installed as the 8/15 favourites and the draw at 13/5, but even a win might not be enough to save Alex McLeish’s men.

Wigan travel to Stoke on the final day and Blackpool take on Premier League champions Manchester United at Old Trafford on a day when goal difference could still play a part – although Wolves host Rovers on Sunday with the winner guaranteed to survive.
