Ferguson issues protest boundaries

The Reds Devils are in the Carling Cup final (2/5 Outright) and going well in the Premier League and Champions League, and while Fergie insists dissenters “have a right to complain”, he has also set some boundaries.

“The foundation at the club is the same as it has been for the last few years. We have a good youth set up and the first team are doing well. That is what concerns me more than anything,” said the Scot.

“When we see fans protesting we understand where it is coming from but we carry on with the football side.

“I have made my point to the supporters. As long as it doesn’t interrupt and interfere with the progress of the team it doesn’t matter. They realise that too. They are still supporting the one team.”

Some fans have taken to wearing the colours of Newton Heath, the club that morphed into United, in protest at the Old Trafford outfit’s financial position under American ownership.
