Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted Manchester United will not sit back and protect a 3-2 advantage when they entertain AC Milan in the Champions League first knockout phase decider on Wednesday (Man United 7/10 draw 5/2 AC Milan 9/2 – match betting).
Wayne Rooney (7/2 First Goalscorer), who scored twice in Italy in the first leg, is likely to return when the three-time winners look to join Premier League rivals Arsenal in the last eight of Europe’s elite club competition.
Ferguson is unlikely to change his game-plan for the visit of former midfielder David Beckham and the seven-time European champions by instructing his players t0 shut the door on the Serie A title-chasers.
The Scot has predicted an open game, principally because Milan have to score, and is convinced he has the attacking personnel to find the net against Leonardo’s men.
He said: “I don’t think we’re very good at defending leads, so we’ll be looking to play our normal game and our normal game includes attacking.”
