Manchester United (9/4 – Premier League Outright) boss Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted his side can’t rely on past achievements if they want to win more silverware in the current campaign.
United have been a dominant force in the English game under the Scottish manager, winning 12 league titles since 1992.
The Old Trafford outfit are once again in the race for the Premier League title and are also in contention for the FA Cup and Europa League this term.
United are currently preparing for their league clash with rivals Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday, as they hope to close down the three-point gap on top of the table Manchester City (Arsenal 13/8, draw 11/5, United 11/8 – Match Betting).
Despite their success under his reign, Ferguson is adamant his United side should be focused on the here and now.
He said: “I frequently stress the importance of our history and experience, but you cannot depend on past achievements to win trophies.
“It’s important we get our fingers out and perform in every game.
“Nice though the cup is, we are now back to the nitty gritty of the league. No excuses now.”
