Balotelli – Bring on Spain

Italy hero Mario Balotelli says his country have nothing to fear when they take on reigning champions Spain in Sunday’s Euro 2012 final after the Manchester City striker inspired his side to a famous semi-final triumph over Germany (Spain 11/10, draw 11/5, Italy 3/1 – match betting).

Balotelli scored two first half goals – the second a superb rising drive into the top corner – to help send the Azzurri through and shock much-fancied Germany.

Mesut Ozil did score an injury-time penalty to give the Germans late hope but Italy deserved their victory and now, says Balotelli, they approach Spain in Kiev this weekend with plenty of confidence (Italy 6/4 – To lift the Cup, Spain 8/15).

He said: “I think we won because we were better and we deserved it. We are with Spain, we are the two best teams in the tournament.

“I hope to win, I don’t care if I play badly as long as we give our all. We have to relax, mustn’t get frustrated with Spain’s possession and keep playing our football.”

Cesare Prandelli’s side have already played Spain in the tournament when they got a creditable 1-1 draw against them in the first Group C clash so Balotelli (11/8f – Euro 2012 top goalscorer) believes they have nothing to fear.

“We are the only side to have scored against Spain so far,” he added. “We proved that we are equal to them, if not more, and we want to win.”
