Dreaded VOC for Brown

7982691 300x235 Dreaded VOC for BrownNew Hull executive chairman Adam Pearson has joined club captain Nicky Barmby in throwing his weight behind under pressure boss Phil Brown.

The KC Stadium chief’s future is in the spotlight after a run of just three Premier League wins in 33 games, but Pearson insists Brown will still be in charge for Sunday’s home clash with Stoke City.

The Tigers announced their arrival in the big time for the 2008/09 season with a bang after winning six of their first nine top-flight games before a slump which nearly say them relegated in May.

Hull’s form has not improved much this term, with the Tigers winning two league games out of 11 and they sit joint-bottom of the table with Portsmouth (Hull 1/3 To Be Relegated).

But former England international Barmby feels Brown’s record in the hot seat needs to be viewed in context after he guided them out of the Championship via the play-offs in 2008.

Barmby said: “What he has done for this club is amazing – the first manager to get us in the top flight after 104 years, so we certainly want him to stay.”

Pearson, who spent six years at Hull between 2001 and 2007, has returned to the club following the resignation of Paul Duffen last week.
