Doubts over Spurs duo

AaronLennon 300x211 Doubts over Spurs duoTottenham Hotspur stars Aaron Lennon and Jermain Defoe are rated as “extremely doubtful” for Monday night’s Premier League game with Liverpool, according to assistant manager Kevin Bond (Liverpool 11/10, draw 12/5, Spurs 13/5 - Match Betting).

The two both sustained hamstring injuries during the club’s FA Cup win over Watford last Friday and missed the club’s victory over Wigan on Tuesday night.

While there are also injury concerns over Rafael van der Vaart’s calf ahead of the clash at Anfield, Kyle Walker (10/1 – Score Anytime) is expected to be ready after a groin issue.

However, Bond confirmed before Thursday’s training session at Spurs Lodge that Lennon and Defoe are likely to miss out but the club’s medical staff are “working hard” to improve the situation.

“Aaron and Jermain are being treated, both are extremely doubtful for Monday but obviously we’ll give them every chance,” said Bond.

“Rafa went off with a calf strain and it’s a bit early to say what his prospects are for Monday. Kyle Walker should be fine.”

Meanwhile, Spurs have announced the signing of veteran defender Ryan Nelsen on a short-term deal and he is set to go straight into the squad for the Liverpool clash.

The Kiwi had his contract terminated at Blackburn this week by mutual consent.

Bond has stated the centre-back is “fit and eligible” for Monday and “looking forward to the challenge” ahead of him at White Hart Lane (Spurs 14/1 - Premier League Outright).
