Landon Donovan believes USA (11/4 to win Group C) are in a ‘good place’ but he knows the magnitude of the task ahead as the Americans prepare for the upcoming ‘final’ against Slovenia in World Cup Group C on Friday.

Donovan’s side earned a point in their first match against England, following Rob Green’s blunder, to get off to a solid start but Slovenia’s victory over Algeria means the three points are absolutely vital to Bob Bradley’s men.

“We’re in a very good place right now. The bus ride home was a lot better after the draw against England,” said Donovan (6/1 to open the scoring).

“We are confident that Slovenia are a team that we can beat; and it’s like a final for us. If we draw the game we are still alive, and if we lose the game it’s highly unlikely we will advance.”

He added: “And we know if we win the game we are in a very good position. So this is as big a game as we will ever play. The guys are excited and ready for it.”

USA will go top of the group if they take the three points and are expected to do so at Evens in the match betting, with Slovenia available at 3/1 to make it two wins from two and the draw at 12/5.
