Dicker sets sights on promotion

Brighton midfielder Gary Dicker insists the Championship leaders can mount a sustained push for promotion to the Premier League this season (Championship outright – Brighton 8/1).

The south coast side were involved in the battle for a play-off place last season but struggled in the closing stages of the campaign and finished in 10th place.

The Seagulls host Ipswich on Tuesday and will be keen to bounce back from defeat at home to Birmingham last time out, with Dicker confident they can push for promotion this season (Championship coupon – Brighton 8/11 draw 13/5 Ipswich 4/1).

“I think we are a lot stronger. I think the gaffer could play two elevens with the squad now,” he told the Argus.

“We are a lot more streetwise this year in how we play and how we set up. I can’t see it happening like last year, when there were big patches of good and bad. Hopefully we can be a bit more consistent and keep it together.”

Brighton pair Bruno (groin) and Andrea Orlandi (virus) could make their returns on Tuesday night but Craig Mackail-Smith and Andrew Crofts are both missing for the promotion hopefuls.

Ipswich will be without Paul Taylor (foot), while Luke Hyam is a doubt but Michael Chopra could return after a groin problem.
