Di Matteo wants more silverware

Roberto Di Matteo says winning the FA Cup and Champions League last season has left him and his Chelsea players wanting more this term (Chelsea 7/2 – Premier League outright).

The Blues produced a remarkable turnaround last season after a shocking start to the campaign under Andre Villas-Boas.

With Di Matteo on board Chelsea were able to achieve owner Roman Abramovich’s dream of winning the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history.

Having given Di Matteo a war chest to improve his squad during the summer the Russian billionaire will be expecting another trophy-laden season.

Chelsea’s first opportunity to add to the trophy cabinet did not go well though as they were humbled by Atletico Madrid in the European Super Cup last week.

Di Matteo, who admits he was surprised with how successful the Blues were last season, has glossed over the defeat to Atletico and predicts the club will be celebrating another good campaign.

“We had a very surprising and positive ending to the season,” he told UEFA.com. “The whole club and the players were magnificent in achieving this result, and we want more of the same in the coming years.

“We looked to sign young players who offer us great invention in the attacking third and they should serve the club well in the future.”

Chelsea are back in action next week against QPR in a game the Blues are 4/6 to win, with the Rs 4/1 and the draw 5/2.
